Folklore is a custom business focused on garden coaching and consultation, ecological design, and home landscape assessments. My goal is always to help the client realize their garden vision, and I do this by blending creativity and deep plant knowledge with sustainable, ecological practices.

After a long career in the media business, I retired and became a full-time gardener in May 2022. I didn't do this on a whim. I'd been gardening intensely for 20+ years (appeared twice on the Cape Elizabeth Garden Tour) and the time was right to make this career change. So I enrolled in the horticulture program as Southern Maine Community College and eventually launched Folklore Gardening. Think of me as an old fashioned gardener with an intuitive sense of design and a modern perspective to work with, not against, nature, especially these days as we confront the realities of climate change. Over the years, I have developed a deep appreciation of plants and the magic they can create in a garden. Thanks to much study and field work, I've become fascinated with the micro-organisms in the soil beneath our feet (billions per teaspoon!), the trees high above, and the role our gardens play in creating visual beauty and supporting natural cycles.
